Full-Time Equine Veterinary Assistant

Make a Difference Every Day in Equine Care

No two days in veterinary medicine are the same—but the mission never changes: provide exceptional care to animals and the people who love them.

With our summer students heading back to school, McKee-Pownall Equine Services (MPES) is looking for a full-time Equine Veterinary Assistant to join our Campbellville clinic team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love horses, and want to work alongside a dedicated and supportive veterinary team—this could be the perfect fit for you.

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Assistant at MPES, you’ll play a vital hands-on role in supporting our veterinarians and caring for our equine patients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling, jogging, restraining, and preparing horses for exams or treatment

  • Setting up, maintaining, and cleaning diagnostic and medical equipment

  • Stocking and organizing clinic supplies and veterinary vehicles

  • Occasionally assisting with admin duties: phones, appointment scheduling, client greetings, invoicing

What You Bring to the Team

We’re looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, reliability, and great energy every day. The ideal candidate:

  • Has a genuine love of horses and a desire to expand their knowledge of equine health care

  • Delivers excellent customer service and finds joy in supporting clients and colleagues

  • Is friendly, personable, and has a good sense of humour

  • Is creative, proactive, self-aware, and a strong team player

  • Is organized and adaptable, with strong communication skills and attention to detail

Requirements

  • Significant, recent hands-on horse experience and confidence handling a wide variety of horses

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

  • Able to jog a horse in hand for up to 15 minutes, multiple times per day

⚠️ Please note: This is a full-time, year-round, permanent position and is generally not suitable for high school or university students. Thank you for your understanding.
